Antique natural pearl and diamond pedant

A wonderful Victorian pearl and diamond pendant crafted in platinum. Fabulously made in this ribbon design. The pearl dropper is articulated giving excellent movement to the piece. Ribbons were very popular in the Victorian era being worn in bonnets and used to decorate elaborate hair styles as well as being sewn into dresses and garments. An important piece which we are pleased to have on our website as well as taking pride and place in our shop window.

Old rose cut diamonds make up the majority of the approximate carat weight of 0.27ct. The bottom dropper set with the pearl is set with eight cut diamonds. The pearl is what we suspect to be a natural pearl of grey colour, baroque shape with slight water marks.
Overall height of 29mm which is measured from the very top of the bale to the lowest point being the bottom of the ribbon.
3.8 grams.
Excellent. There is one diamond which is a replacement. One of the rose cuts has obviously come loose and been lost. Someone in the pendants past has reset a more modern cut stone which is actually broken and set upside down to mask its use.
