Antique citrine and diamond cluster ring

A wonderful antique late Georgian to early Victorian citrine and diamond cluster ring. This ring looks great on the finger and is typical of the era in its manufacture. The centre piece is a foil backed facetted gemstone which is confirmed as being Citrine through a refractive index reading taken with a refractometer. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold the old cut diamonds are mounted in a silver boarder. We know that this started out life as a ring thanks to the curved underneath of the head.

18ct gold and silver.
Stamped 18ct.
Central oval citrine surrounded by old cut diamonds with one more modern 8 cut diamond obviously used as a replacement to one that has come out. This eight cut though has been in place for many many years so although we say it is more modern, it is still an old diamond. Each diamond is approximately 0.02ct, possibly 0.025ct. Total approximate diamond content 0.35ct.
The head of the ring measures 15mm x 13mm and stands 7mm proud of the finger. 9mm wide at the shoulders narrowing to 4mm at the back of the finger. The citrine setting measures 11mm x 8.7mm.
