1940s 9ct Gold Wedding Band

A 1940s World War II wedding band with full English hallmarks. This one is slightly more interesting, with a small ‘utility mark’ inside the shank. During World War II, gold was subject to restrictions, and the manufacture of gold wedding rings was regulated. From 1942, wedding rings were restricted to 9ct gold and a weight of less than 3.11 grams. The utility mark, alongside the assay marks, indicates that this ring was made in accordance with the wartime regulations.

Metal: 9ct yellow gold.

Marks: H.A. 9-375. Birmingham, 1946. Utility mark.

Measurements: 2.5mm wide.

Weight: 2.14 grams.

Condition: Excellent.

Finger size: UK K 1/2.
