Victorian Banded Agate Mourning Ring – SOLD
A superb gypsy ring star set with banded agate, used as a mourning ring circa 1875. Engraved inside George Colland Obt. Jan 13 – 75 aged 40 years. This is a great looking ring and lovely to see banded agate used in this way.
Metal:
9ct gold.
Marks:
Unmarked - tests indicate 9ct gold.
Stones:
Central banded agate / onyx cabochon cut 5.5mm in diameter with two 3mm diameter matching pieces of banded agate, one each side.
Measurements:
7.7mm at its widest narrowing to 3.2mm at the back of the finger.
Weight:
5.9 grams.
Condition:
Excellent. At the point of photographing this ring one of the pieces of agate was showing some glue. We have not immediately spotted this but we have since removed this piece, cleaned it up and re-set the stone.
