Vintage Platinum & Opal Ring
Description: A superb vintage opal and diamond ring mounted in platinum. A dark oval opal exhibiting red colour zoning with flashes of green and slight blues coming through. This would have been handmade specifically for this opal. The diamonds are your classing 8 cut diamonds used so much as completing stones for a piece of this vintage. Most likely manufactured in the UK sometime between the first and second world wars.
Marks: Stamped Platinum.
Stones: A central natural opal of dark colour exhibiting good orange, red, green and slight blue to purple flashes. Each side are two 0.02ct 8 cut diamonds in millgrain finished rubber settings.
Measurements: The opal measures 14mm x 9.5mm. The diamond settings are approximately 5mm in width narrowing to a 2mm D shape profile shank.
Weight: 3.52 grams.
Finger size: I.5.
Condition: Excellent condition. It should be noted that this ring deserves a great deal of care and attention. Rings of this age when set with opals of this size should not be worn for everyday circumstances.
