Sapphire & Diamond Brooch
Description: A superb brooch by all accounts it features a mid to light blue round natural sapphire in a millgrain setting with a surround of rose cut diamonds. Of Victorian origins it is modelled in 18ct yellow gold with a white, most likely platinum top to the main body of the bar brooch. The central aspect is flanked each side by two 8 cut diamonds in millgrain settings and the whole piece is finished off with a lovely white enamel boarder. Fabulous craftsmanship to the under-gallery this is a significant item of jewellery manufacturing from the Victorian golden years.
Metal: 18ct yellow gold with platinum top.
Marks: Unmarked. Often delicate items were omitted form hallmarking as the act of punching the mark could break and destroy the item.
Stones: Central sapphire approximately 0.55ct surrounded by rose but diamonds and 8 cut diamond accents. Total approximate diamond weight 0.32ct.
Measurements: 65.8mm in total length. The centre piece measures 11.5mm in diameter.
Weight: 6.1 grams.
