Platinum & Diamond Vintage Engagement Ring
Description: A hand made vintage engagement ring with a substantially sized central diamond featuring diamond set shoulders. All aspects of this ring are handmade and visible in its construction. The ring has been worn for many many years and required a bit of work when it came to us. We have re-tipped all of the centre claws securing the diamond. Other than that we have done little more than checking the other stones and giving the ring a clean and polish. Likely to be early mid 20th century it was most likely a commission rather than a stock item.
Metal: Test indicate platinum.
Marks: Inside the shank remains, all be it very worn, the original PLAT engraving. Not stamped, this was hand engraved.
Stones: The star of the show is the brilliant cut diamond of 1.24ct assessed as L/M colour and Si3 clarity. The central diamond is drawing colour which is very evident on the pictures however this is definitely one to be seen in store. The stone is a very lively diamond. Coming down each shoulder is a row of three old cut diamonds - 0.06ct, 0.05ct and 0.04ct adding a further 0.30ct to the overall diamond content.
Measurements: From the outside of each claw the ring is approximately 7.5mm at it’s widest. The diamond stands about 5.5mm proud of the finger. Where the shoulders meet the centre setting measures 3.3mm wide and taper away gently to a 1.5mm shank.
Weight: 3.7 grams.
Finger size: M.5.
Condition: The ring has seen up too and possibly slightly over 100 years of use. It bears the ever so slightly inconsistencies that you get with hand made items of antique jewellery. A must see item we welcome you to come in a try it on.
